Our grandma’s air conditioner got sprayed by a skunk

Our grandma’s central air conditioner got sprayed by a skunk last summer.

I remember it was a warm summer night and my dad, who is an HVAC technician, had just gotten home from working on a central air conditioner.

We decided to go to grandma’s house that evening and eat dinner with her. When we got to her house the first thing we noticed was that it was really warm in her house and it felt like a furnace in there. My grandma usually has her air conditioner running all day because she likes her house to be really cool. We asked grandma why the house was so hot and she explained that her air conditioner had a really bad small that was blowing through the air vents in her house. After dinner, my dad decided to go outside and take a look at the central air conditioner. After examining it, he decided to take the air conditioner apart and take a look. My dad is a very skilled HVAC technician, but he could find nothing wrong with the ir coeninter, but that’s because there was nothing wrong internally with the air conditioner, but rather that the air container had been sprayed by a skunk. As soon as my dad got next to the air conditioner he knew that there was nothing internally wrong with it. Surprisingly enough, even though my dad has worked on thousands of furnaces, air conditioners, and water boilers, he had never worked on a central air conditioner that had been sprayed by a skunk. My dad scrubbed and hosed off the air conditioner three times before he got the smell to go away.
