Don’t know how to set the control component in fall

The afternoons have started to get into the 50s.

  • That means when I wake up it is rather frigid in the house.

I hate it when it is that time of year. I never know how to dress or officially set my control unit. On one hand I would like the heater to kick on late at night. When the temperature dips into the 50s, I want to feel gentle heat through the air vents. I also want the heater to run until about noon. Then the weather starts to perk up and feel slightly warm. By the time it is around 2-3 in the afternoon, the sunshine is shining and I want air conditioning in the house. It lasts this way until around 9-10 at night. So what am I supposed to do? Constantly adjust my control component throughout the afternoon? Go from heating to A/C to heating again? It is not truly energy smart to constantly be messing with my system. Thankfully I have a central heating and cooling system which means the control component controls the whole unit. That one component does both heating and cooling. I don’t need to turn off a certain air conditioner and start a furnace. That would be horrible. My partner is of the mindset that my buddy and I just stick with AC. If the afternoons are cold, my buddy and I will just freeze. He wants to wait it out. I agree it is cheaper and better for our system. I don’t like that the youngsters get up every morning for school chilly though. There must be a cheap solution to this.
