Loving our new bedroom and the ductless HVAC
Ours was a small house when we bought it.
But where it was located was what we were interested in. We have a house that is along a mountain side and almost to the top. We have a wood stove for heating as well as a central air conditioning unit. The place came with the wood stove and so we have learned to use it as supplementary heating. While our house is in the perfect location, it is quite small. Or I should say it was quite small. And over the years, even though we didn’t have children, we really wanted to use all the space more efficiently while adding some space. Our house was technically a two bedroom house. But both the bedrooms are very small. So we decided to add on a master bedroom suite with a bathroom as well. And then we would turn one of those bedrooms into a guest room and the other into an exercise room. We found a great contractor to do the addition and a great HVAC contractor to take care of the heating and cooling inside the new edition. I thought that perhaps we could just run additional ductwork to the new bedroom. But HVAC equipment is actually precisely sized to the air volume of one’s home. So when we got the new bedroom and bathroom completed, the HVAC company came out and installed a ductless heat pump. It actually worked out quite well because we can customize the thermostat setting for just our bedroom without affecting the rest of the house.
