Four fireplaces and not a flame

I love living in this area. I was born in the far north region of the country and things just don’t have as much soul there. Living in the South, I feel like there is just more character and personality in every human and every structure. Perhaps it’s the rich history here, or perhaps it’s the heat making everybody just a little bit naughty. Either way, I’m glad to live in a place where people and buildings are always interesting. One of my favorite hobbies is looking at homes on the housing market. I’m a huge fan of perusing the online ads and even stopping by open houses to take a look. Recently, I was checking out a brand new offering on the market when I realized that it was a historic gem of unique eccentricities and personality. The house is from 1930, and it looks like it. It has 10 foot ceilings, beautiful wood floors, and a strange heating system that currently only serves for decoration. You see, the original builders of this home installed four beautiful fireplaces throughout the tiny structure. These days, it isn’t necessary to rely on wood burning fireplaces for heat. It also probably isn’t safe to operate these nearly 100 year old fireplaces in a very flammable home. That’s why, all of the fireplaces were completely plugged up. Their ornate mantels were beautiful to look at, but had absolutely no functional heating purpose. The longer I looked at to this adorable old house, the more I desire to live among the decorative fireplaces. Knowing that I could have the energy efficiency and comfort of central heat, but the added bonus of pretty heating elements in every room was very unique, indeed.
