I was traveling north without HVAC.

Living in the south means that most of the winter is fairly mild.

I seldom need to light the gas fireplace, and when I do, I always need to look at the instructions again. I have the fireplace cleaned every year, but that is only because of the sand and humidity. A couple of weeks ago, I had to travel north. One of my relatives passed away, and I was going to the funeral. I had my oil and coolant checked, and the gas was filled. The mechanic told me I was safe for a long trip. The only thing I didn’t have checked was the HVAC system. I had been using the air conditioning often, and I knew it was working well. Unfortunately, I hadn’t been using the heating system. The further north I got, the chillier it was, and I finally had to turn on the heat. When I turned it on, nothing happened. The blowers were working, but I wasn’t getting any heat. The air conditioning was stuck in the on position. By the time I got to a service station that worked on HVAC systems, I was freezing. I could turn the HVAC system off, but I was still without heat. Having the HVAC system off was better than having the air conditioning blowing in my face when it was only 30 degrees outside. My only worry was how much it was going to cost me to have the HVAC system repaired. I called my brother and told him I may be a bit late, and that I had to stop to have repairs made.
