How to protect the air quality of a reading room

I enjoy having a private reading room in my home.

  • It is a quiet place of reflection, where electronic devices are not allowed.

Here I can relax, read, or meditate. A few weeks ago I moved to the pacific northwest for a new and exciting task opportunity. I converted the spare living room into a reading room. It was so lovely, with a picture window overlooking the ocean plus the shore. It didn’t take too long for myself and others to realize that multiple of my most appreciated books were starting to develop nasty mildew! Although the temperature control was excellent, I lacked the humidity control that I needed, so I instantly purchased a dehumidifier. In this section of the country the temps are modest plus pleasant for most of the year, so my new lake house doesn’t even have an a/c. In my aged lakeside house I kept the air conditioner running most of the year, but here I can open all the windows plus let in a breeze when it gets stuffy. I was not aware that the a/c also circulates the air inside the home, running it through filters plus removing excess humidity. Since there wasn’t an air conditioner plus no air circulation, those moisture levels were getting far too high plus damaging my books. This presented a bigger problem, because I knew over enough time that excess humidity would foster the growth of mold plus mildew on the walls of the lakeside house itself. With that in mind I purchased multiple more dehumidifiers plus placed them strategically around the house. With the dehumidifiers in place, my lakeside house is even more comfortable than before.
