I wanted A/C with a high SEER.
When our air conditioner unit died, my good friend and I wanted to put off purchasing another one until the winter.
I thought air conditioner units would go down in price while they were getting out the current season’s inventory, unfortunately, with all the rate hikes in everything, the ancient inventory A/C units were selling for more than when they were the current inventory a year ago.
I wanted an A/C unit with a SEER of at least 22, but our husband said my good friend and I couldn’t afford that. With him being the only one working right now, my good friend and I had to budget, even if it meant giving up a bit of efficiency. The prices were so outrageous, that my good friend and I even considered trying to get the ancient air conditioner unit fixed. It would cost half as much as a current air conditioner unit, and my good friend and I would have air conditioners. My husband shook his head. He said before he put that much into a repair, he would appreciate purchasing a current air conditioner, and use our debit cards. We talked for a couple of afternoons before deciding what my good friend and I were going to do. He told me he thought my good friend and I should go with the current air conditioner. When he found a single that had excellent ratings, and the SEER was 21, I agreed. We called the heating, ventilation plus A/C corporation and asked if they still had that model in stock. We were both surprised when he told us it was on sale, and it was going to be 10% lower than he had estimated, and the replacement was going to be free.
