A smart HVAC system for the church
It was a slow day at the home service business; only one customer had called to order an air filter.
- At around two o’clock, a call came through.
The caller identified himself as the pastor of the local Baptist church and said that he wanted to upgrade the church’s HVAC equipment and know how they would go about it. An HVAC professional was sent to the church to assess the situation. The HVAC was old, and it did need to be replaced. They had bought a whole-home air purification unit when the installation’s air purification help was less efficient than it used to be. The air purification system helped improve the indoor air quality but combined with the new smart HVAC we had recommended, air purification would be excellent. The HVAC technician also found the ductwork in good condition. All that was needed was to insulate it again and perform duct cleaning, which would be okay. A team was sent to the church to inspect if everything was okay and according to our earlier quick assessment. We later discovered that the ductwork in other parts of the church needed to be redone. The work was more extensive than we thought. We ended up replacing all the ductwork. The offices next to the church also needed to be worked on. What we initially thought would be a simple replacement project ended up being three days of work. When we finished our work, the air quality was not just up to code but was well above it. Church services would be much better for the preacher and the whole congregation.
