HVAC isn’t just letters.

I never took notice when someone was talking about HVAC.

  • Dad talked about being an HVAC technician.

My grandfather owned an HVAC company. Mom and talked about needing air filters in the HVAC system, or needing it repaired. When I heard them talking about getting a new HVAC system for the house, I wanted to know what they were talking about. I asked dad what HVAC was? He told me that HVAC was the heating and air conditioning system in the house. HVAC stands for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. I didn’t understand what ventilation was. He told me the ventilation system was the ductwork. He showed it to me, and I knew what he was pointing at. I remembered when he was down here and bumped his head so hard that it sent him to the hospital. He told me that the heat and air conditioning travels through the ductwork and it blows out of the air vents, or registers, as my grandparents called it. He showed me where the air vent went into the furnace and said that one day he was going to have me changing the air vents. I wanted to know how many there were. He said there was an air vent in the furnace, one in the air conditioner, and a HEPA air filter in air purification system We used HEPA air filter in the air purification system because it was thicker and could remove more dust, dirt, and beasties than any other air filter. I wondered why I had never asked dad about HVAC before. HVAC was really interesting.
