Actually, I’m looking forward to the summer this year.
I don’t usually feel like that. Usually, as March approaches, I’m depressed that the idyllic winter weather is coming to an end. The winters here are beautiful, and because the temperatures are so consistently mild, the heat pump doesn’t have to work very hard. The fear of the impending summer’s heat and humidity, however, comes along with the arrival of spring. Even with excellent residential HVAC as we have, the level of heat in this area can be oppressive. I’m very happy to have a fantastic home with excellent heating and air from a fantastic heat pump. However, I also feel a little out of place in my own house because I prefer more cooling during the hottest parts of the summer than my family does. My wife, however, is a thermostat hawk for two reasons. She is more tolerant of heat and is thin. She also detests spending excessive amounts of money on heat pumps’ cooling comfort. I’m just on the verge of being a fat guy who enjoys as much air conditioning as possible. That’s going to happen this summer, and not because I’ve moved somewhere else. But I do have a space of my own inside the house where, if I choose, I can turn on the air conditioning. The garage now has a ductless heat pump. I’m not breaking any house rules by not spending as much money on air conditioning because this HVAC technology is so effective. I’ll be enjoying life this summer, I think, especially since it’s the garage and I’m the only one there.
