Preparing your HVAC system for a hurricane

I live in an area of the country that has really terrible storms for about six months out of the year.

Normally, during these storms most people will lose power to their homes and don’t have a way to get food or water.

In order to not panic during this crazy time you have to prepare you home for the impending weather. Normally before the start of hurricane season, most people have a check list of all the things they need to have done completed. I know that my family always has extra batteries, water, canned food and flashlights on hand just in case. One thing that is also really important to do is have your HVAC system inspected by a local HVAC company. During hurricane season it is normally really hot outside and you don’t want to be without the air conditioning. I always make sure that I have the HVAC tech that is looking at my HVAC unit connect the HVAC unit to our generator just in case we lose power. I don’t want my family to have to suffer without the air conditioning for longer than we would have to. I make sure that we also have battery operated fans in the house just for a back up. I really like to make sure that my family has everything in order just to prepare for the worst. You know what is going to happen. However, if you are going to just do one thing to prepare, I recommend that you get your HVAC system inspected by a HVAC professional.
