Upgrading to an electric HVAC so as to get through winter

Snowfall was quickly approaching, and from the look of things, even with regular heater maintenance, the heating equipment would not hold up any longer.

  • It was nearly two decades old, and with the rate at which the boiler was breaking down, it would not survive the winter.

The HVAC specialist had already warned us that the system needed replacement. The news was coming at a terrible time because people were already coming into the shelter. After all, it was starting to get cold, and the shelter would be at full capacity by the time winter arrived. Just as we negotiated a deal with a heating technician on the HVAC products for sale, a last-minute donation came in. It could not have come at a better time, the amount was enough to purchase an electric heat pump, but it was barely enough for the service charge. The professional cut us an excellent deal, and we could pay for the heat pump installation. They would put heated floors in the whole shelter to ensure indoor comfort during those cold months. The technology would reduce the number of blankets we needed to add during winter, plus the energy-saving tips they gave us would reduce costs. Therefore, we would have more for other services the shelter required. The HVAC serviceman also installed a HEPA filter which he said would work well with the electric HVAC. It would also reduce the rate at which the flu and colds spread in the shelter. We would still be using the dial regulator until there was enough money to upgrade to a wireless thermostat that was more energy efficient. Upgrading to an electric heating system was a giant step because we would even reduce the amount we used on frequent repairs on the old system.
